So, now that my wine exam is over and I have all this free time on my hands, I've decided that I need a new hobby.
My first choice was becoming a farmer, but that seemed slightly ambitious. I decided to start with an herb patch. The herb patch also includes bell peppers, jalapeño peppers, and zucchini. Apparently the veggies take four months to mature, so I guess I'll enjoy some lovely sautéed zucchini with my Thanksgiving dinner.
My real motivation for starting a garden was getting these little chalkboard signs, which I either envisioned in a dream or saw on Pinterest. Anyway, I went on a wild goose chase for these stupid signs. Eventually I found them in the wedding crafts department at Michael's. I felt like a pathetic old cat lady when the cashier commented that they were cute when used as table numbers for an outdoor wedding and I sneered, "they're for my herbs!" Maybe instead of becoming a cat lady, I will become an herb lady. The cops will come into my house and find me buried under an out-of-control jungle of basil and parsley vines.
Anyway, I'm hoping this whole garden thing works out, but stupid bugs are already munching on my basil. My desire to become a strictly organic farmer is quickly waning. Maybe I will post monthly photos of the herb garden to show you how great of a job I'm doing. (Side note: this is quickly becoming the most. boring. blog. EVER.).
Now, if you will excuse me, it's time to get serious with a watering can.
Looks great , do you use Chalk Ink markers?
ReplyDeleteI did - and amazingly the writing hasn't washed off the signs despite a LOT of rain!
